What are the benefits of working out at home?

From the first day I am working out at home and I like it. I admit that it is very individual and other people like to work out in the gym or in the company of like-minded people. I can give some reasons why I like to workout at home.

Work out whenever you want to

If you are disciplined person, then it will give you some freedom. You can plan your day more freely. If something unexpected happens, you can train later without any problem. I like such freedom, especially in days, when I have busy schedule. And I have no problem to train in evening or during lunch brake, so I can work out whenever I have ready and have free time. But if you are not so disciplined, working at home will be a problem, not benefit. It can ruin your training schedule and then the consequences will be lost progress and motivation

Eliminate drive time to and from the gym

Working out at home can really save your time. Especially, if you live in city with traffic jams, or your gym is just far from your home. I now few people who are aware that they spend more than hour driving to and from the gym, just to do exercises they can do anywhere. For example, instead of running and sweating on treadmill you can just run outside in the park or forest, if you have such possibility.

Usually I spend about an hour on my workouts and a little bit less than hour if I am running. And no time spent on driving to gym 🙂

Work out in the privacy of your home

One of the most common reasons why people do not start workouts is due to their shyness. Especialy overweight or underweight people does not feel comfortable if gym is full of well trained bodies. So you can start training without been ashamed in your home. I believe you will gain confidence and will be ready for the gym if needed, after you will see progress on home workouts.

Workout at home can be a lot cheaper

Every gym costs money, and it is easy to calculate how much you spend yearly. Don’t forget to add petrol costs if you drive a car or tickets if you use other commuting. It can come up quite a lot.

When training at home, you don’t have any regular expenses. You can start without any equipment at all, but of course it is better to have at least pull up bar available. And later you can buy some essential equipment. If you are focusing on calisthenics or bodyweight training, then basicaly, you need just a pull ups bar, paralettes, few rubber bands and dumbells and that’s it! No any other monthly expenses. And if you are lucky enough to have pull up bars in the park near your home, then you can work out without spending a single cent.
